Artist Statement: Abstractions
I am currently exploring color and texture of oil paint and cold wax medium mixed and applied in layers and layers. Images appear as I build the colors and textures. Using brayers and scrapers to add and subtract until the painting takes on the image. This has allowed me to find new depth in my work going with the activity to a more essential place of enchantment.

Artist Statement: Still Life
I paint still life primarily of every day materials, objects that are in my surroundings. They are the stimulus for my work. I paint directly from life which allows me a greater tactile experience and the joy in looking at the objects. Painting for me is the discovery of how I see things. Looking between the spatial illusion and flatness; choosing the cropping of the composition is a very exciting part for me as well. I am always looking for the next thing to paint, that object or thing that attracts me with excitement.

"The artist's eye should always be turned in upon his inner life, and his ear should be always ... alert for the voice of inward necessity."
—Wassily Kandinsky
